Goodwin have been working with Franke, the world-famous suppliers of stainless-steel kitchen equipment for over 5 years on a wide range of projects.

Beach
Franke had invented the much-copied half-bowl concept over 20 years ago. Goodwin were invited to take a new look at the entire sink area and revolutionise it. Shedding the idea of a permanent half-bowl, Goodwin used the extra space to create a sloping-edged sink with convenient side access (top & middle left). At the top of the slope is the 'rockpool', a recess into which a bowl can be screwed to give you all the functions of the traditional half-bowl, such as draining, rinsing, defrosting and waste-disposal. A working bowl in its own right, it can also accommodate a plug-in colander and measuring basin. A separate drainer and chopping board can also fit neatly over the sink, increasing the functionality and size of the worktop area while still giving access to the lock-in bowl.

"The very fruitful cooperation between Goodwin and Franke has catapulted us back to the forefront of sink design" said Bruno Perucchi, Managing Director of Franke, "With Beach we have strengthened our reputation for innovation." Franke were overwhelmed by both trade and consumer response to it's innovative design – it was even installed in Channel 4's infamous Big Brother house!

Workstation
Workstation is another radical rethink of the kitchen zone by Goodwin. Built on the assumption that you can never have enough worktop space when cooking, Workstation is the ultimate flexible preparation area (second right). Sections can be changed from chopping board to sink to drainer and back to chopping board in an instant. With as many combinations as you have recipes, it will satisfy even the fussiest cook.

Waste disposal
Many people need to store empty cans, bottles and plastics in their kitchen before recycling – it is a growing problem as recycling becomes mandatory over much of Europe. Goodwin has developed an integrated kitchen unit that separates kitchen waste for easy recycling (far right). Based on a filing system with bags fitted to a moulded frame, the storage unit adjusts itself to the varying amounts of rubbish generated by different households, as well as automatically opening the bags as the drawer is pulled out.
